Chiloé Island

Enjoyed a fantastic couple of days on Chiloé Island. The colourful wooden buildings, houses on stilts (palofitos), scenery and seafood were all fantastic. Nearly all the houses and buildings in colonial Chiloe were built with wood, and wood shingles were used extensively for siding & roofs. So many of the houses today still have the same construction, and painted in bright colours.

‎Machu Picchu‬ – Success!!

 After strikes and train delays I have finally made it to Machu Picchu. It was worth all the delays and adventures to get here.
We lined up at 4am to get on the first bus heading up to Machu Picchu, and we were near the front of the line, so when the gates opened at 6am we were pretty much first in.  With minimal clouds, and very people, I got to see and experience the magic of Machu Picchu for at least a few minutes of peace before the crowds started to fill the view. A powerful few moments.
